So we’ve tried the other Sushi places in town first because their menu contains +gf notations and certain items, avoided here for awhile until I found out they carry gluten-free soy sauce. Enter Sky Modern
Sky service was excellent, the appetizers were tasty (edamame was cold) but I don’t knock off for that, and the miso soup was very tasty and warm. The interior is super cool, cloud lights, a silver tree, pretty awesome place can’t believe waited so long to try this spot.
Been to a few other sushi spots in town and Sky by far had the best sushi, it was fresh, tasted great and was assembled like a pro. The Shrimp Ebi did have wasabi in it which I didn’t know and it didn’t say that so I avoided it eek! However I will be back soon to dive into some more sushi! Also great prices.
Gluten Free Review
+server had to check with chef on any item if it was gluten free
+eh no dedicated gluten free menu
I’ve wanted to back here to give this place another chance maybe a better waiter so I will do that soon to try and get it 5 stars. We were seated at the bar and then the bar had a light that was like a strobe light so had to move chairs next to another table next the back bar.
Kemuri Chillin, a decent Sushi option in LR
The service was good however he had no any of any gluten free options nor what contained soy sauce, etc so probably the reason wasn’t as pleasant. We got a bottle of Sake which was excellent (he did know his Sake) and we got some Robota appetizer I think? Was like filet beef sticks and also some roasted pork belly appetizer which was excellent, the apps were great. The sushi however was 3/5, it didn’t taste fully fresh and the rice as soon as you picked it up with the chopsticks fell apart, the sushi chef that night was terrible. I’ll be back soon though because it’s def a hot spot and got real busy bar side before we left.
So on the way to the airport and after paying $100 for uber black we were notified our flight was cancelled. Bullshit. So only 2 of us could fly out that day when there were 4 of us total, so me madre and I ended up having to go to airport, drop them off, turn around find an uber and go all the way back into Manhattan since we didn’t want to stay in Jersey for the night. On the way back our fucking uber driver hit another car LOL, and halved our fare but still was pretty funny and didn’t matter since we weren’t in a rush! Ended up hitting up Carlos Bakery, Ninja New York, and saw Star Wars!
Snow was still heavy on day 5
This was for sale in our hotel lobby $599
Instead of just posting a bunch of photos in one post I’ll create a bunch of separate posts for each adventure I come upon so it’s easier to search and manage through Google. The Central Park Zoo was fkin cold, and I had to create my own gloves. I can’t believe they don’t sell adult gloves/hats only children’s which is bullshit, I hate to buy socks and cut holes with my knife. The first night after we landed we got our uber and stayed at the Sheraton hotel and searched restaurants that Anthony Bourdain has went too and found one that was called Hagi 46 Sake Bar so we ended up hitting it up!
Sake Bar Hagi: Anthony Bourdain Inspired
Wanted to find a place on our first night in NYC and decided to check out spots that one of my favorite travel shows “Anthony Bourdain” has visited and he has came here and decided this would be the place, especially since they were open till like midnight. Being from Texas the entire foodie feel of this place was epic, walking down the stairs to the abyss of culinary genius of master sushi chefs and sake everywhere was an awesome first impression.
