So on the way to the airport and after paying $100 for uber black we were notified our flight was cancelled. Bullshit. So only 2 of us could fly out that day when there were 4 of us total, so me madre and I ended up having to go to airport, drop them off, turn around find an uber and go all the way back into Manhattan since we didn’t want to stay in Jersey for the night. On the way back our fucking uber driver hit another car LOL, and halved our fare but still was pretty funny and didn’t matter since we weren’t in a rush! Ended up hitting up Carlos Bakery, Ninja New York, and saw Star Wars!
Snow was still heavy on day 5
The next day,
after the blizzard we were hoping more things would be open and moving along and bam NYC gets back up and runs right after it falls, everything was open and normal like a few days before. Minus the fact the streets were covered in melted salt sludge of snow and a variety of other umbrellas and lost gloves. Wanted to find some place epic for brunch before we ended up walking down to Times Square and ended up finding a spot called the Meltshop.
What every sign looked like walking down Times Square…Read on
On Saturday, Jan. 24, the National Weather Service (NWS) recorded 26.8 inches of snowfall in New York City’s Central Park, which was one of our days visiting New York City and it ended up being awesome. Everything was closed except a few places which sucked but just drinking some booze and walking down to Times Square was awesome. Especially walking in the middle of the street. Check out all these photos of this adventure below.
First view of walking outside our hotel, was a lot of snow!
Now I wish I had a lot more hours in the day to visit this place since we came at night and the next day they said a horrible storm was coming in and everything would be shutdown so it was this night or never. We took an Uber on over from Macy’s and decided to track it up! This place was huge, expansive, and way bigger than I remember… we had to rush through everything in under 2 hours time but I want to go back to read everything and study all the history here. All the old ancient artifacts, mummies, rooms, ahh it was epic. Ready to see some art?
Walking up the MET, oooh yea art history about to go down
So Katz Deli is excellent food, sad there is no gluten free bread for allergy suffering patrons such as myself, thought an establishment as old as this would get with the program. It’s in a shady area, must take a Taxi or Uber to get to effectively. http://katzsdelicatessen.com/
Welcome to Katz Deli!
This is the epic center of all thing Vinyl, Sofubi, this is the Tony Hawk of Plastic Vinyl Toys in America that I have found so far. The staff here was super helpful, friendly, and assisted in anything I needed or questions. I finally arrived at the Disney World of Vinyl Toys.
Was so excited, since I started collecting Vinyl Art Toys this is like the Disney World of Vinyl Toys.
Going to have a few separate Day 2 posts, to much for one post.
So we wanted to check out the Statue of Liberty without actually going to the statue so we ended up hitting battery park, and after a 20 minute taxi ride finally found it. Not to mention the 100 homeless people asking us if were going to the statue as if they could offer us some fucking bullshit discount, mayor needs to clean that shit up, fuck wrong with you NYC tourists don’t want to be harassed by homeless fucks by just going to the park to check stuff out.
Got in our Taxi to head to Battery Park
the famous Michelin Star Logo
I wanted to take my family to a Michelin starred restaurant while on our trip to NYC and decided to look over the 30+ spots to hit up, this one has been around a long time so I wanted to see what there game level was like. I called prior to making reservations and asked if they make accommodations to gluten-free people and she told me they had to ask the chef and call me back, I never received a phone call back and finally called back 3 hours later.
They told me yes they can make accommodations for gluten and I asked if it was leaving items off the entree or actually substitute certain items, they told me they substitute certain features. As a YELP review before said they just left items off, I was very adamant about this.
Welcome to Michelin Starred Aureole!
“the Plaza Hotel”
This is a 3 part blog post, this is the second part visiting the history museum, the next post will be my visit to my first Michelin starred restaurant “Aureole”. So check it out! But first, let’s go see some history, I’ve been here when I was a kid and don’t remember much but was super stoked to come check it again especially after watching the movies Night of the Museum with Ben Stiller. After leaving the Central Park Zoo we opted to walk towards the Plaza Hotel (Home Alone Hotel) and ended up catching an uber back up to the History museum, so few photos in between there.
Cool statue along the way, walking towards Tiffanys
