WDW DAY 6: Last day excursion at Hollywood Studios

Beautiful, slightly hot day.

It’s finally come to our last day in Florida on our 2016 adventure to Disney World, Universal Studios and always the “sad” day, however we will return soon and the magical adventures will once again come! This is also a super pumped day for me because we finally were able to make a reservation at 50’s Prime Time Cafe which is literally known as one of the best gluten free restaurants in all of Orlando, and it turned out to be awesome. This park should also charge half price, literally 80% of the park is under construction such an eye sore right now, pathetic D, lower the price to Hollywood.

Always wanted to know about this statue so I did some research this time.

As you make your way down Hollywood Boulevard, towards the Sorcerer’s Hat, on your left you will find a bronzed statue of a cameraman working a movie camera.

Underneath the statue is a sign with a quote, “Movies are a medium of expression like a symphony orchestra.. or a painter’s brush or canvas” -Walt Disney.  Why is this life sized statue there and who is it?

The statue was made by Aldo and Andrea Favilli in 1995.  Andrea Favilli was a Disney Imaginner, who joined Imagineering in 1987 as a laead concept designer.  Favilli worked on a number of projects in Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Typhoon Lagoon, Disney Island, Pleasure Island, the Animal Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris.

The statue itself is based on the original statue that Andrea made with his father that is located in Hollywood across from the Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank.   Interestingly enough, the original statue was commissioned by Roy E. Disney and Shamrock Holdings, which was meant to be a piece of art that celebrated the art of film making.

The man in the statue is a generic film maker, not based on anyone per se.  Imagineers had a replica built at the Studios since the statue’s message of honoring film making fit in perfectly with the theme park.

WDW Day 5: Universal Studios & Harry Potter

Looks like a cat to me.

Day 5 WDW: Well not really WDW but still all in the same universe of sorts, we wanted to come specifically to check out Diagon Alley since last time the park was closing and we didn’t even discover it until by accident since it’s hidden! Crazy I know but finally we made it so heres some photos of our adventure! I’m not sure if it was because of the people or weather or park in general but this time around Universal Orlando seemed down right “ghetto” to me in a way.. I don’t know why.. it seems they have lost their class.

Famous Earth at the entry way!

Not sure why we wanted to check this place out, but none the less Hello Kitty was there. Their marketing team is whack trying to say Hello Kitty is not a fucking cat, what’s wrong with chu?

Walt Disney World Preview Center 1971

On my latest trip to Walt Disney World I saw a video of abandoned Disney stuff and one of them was the old Walt Disney World preview center. It was so close to our hotel and the Disney parks I had to go, so check out a little history and some of the photos I took of myself at the Preview Center below! Now it’s called the Amateur Athletic Union but it still looks like the preview center and even has a huge Mickey on the inside.

Here’s a little history about it below:

In mid-January, 1970, the Walt Disney World Preview Center became the first building on WDW property to be opened to the public. Near the intersection of Interstate 4 and State Road 535, the thoroughly modern glass, concrete and steel structure was situated on the southern shoreline of Lake Buena Vista along the then-quiet Preview Boulevard. This roadway would later become Hotel Plaza Boulevard, a main artery serving traffic to the WDW Village and a gathering of hotels. Hit Read More to see my full gallery

WDW Day 4 PM: Animal Kingdom!

I think they are pink because they eat shrimp?

After our fishing excursion we went back to our hotel Port Orleans and changed and showered the fish off of us. Then set sail in our trusted minivan to Animal Kingdom (which we knew would be the hardest day). Since none of us are in shape and it’s the most treacherous territory to walk and it was also super hot that day which we were hoping would be a cool day!

Anyways I love Animal Kingdom, especially since Safari Mickey is my version of Mickey.

These parrots love to greet you when you walk in. No crackers pls (there gluten free).

Where to now? (busts out map) ok hit read more.

WDW Day 4 AM: Guided Fishing Excursion

Disney Fishing Guide

So if you have someone you know who loves to fish, or you love to fish you can book a guided fishing excursion at Disney World. When I was younger we did it at EPCOT in the middle of the world showcase which was awesome!

This time around we booked it my for my dad and the guide took us to Disney Springs. We were picked up from our hotel at Port Orleans, and off we went on a Pontoon boat through the back alley’s of Disney Springs.

I’ll post a link of the site to book this, I think it was like $200 for 2 hours, and they include everything, sodas, rods, reels, and a guide who does all the work for you. Besides the fishing part the actual boat ride and just cruising around Disney Springs was way more awesome and adventurous then I thought it was going to be.

Cruising out of Port Orleans on our pontoon

Epic views, looks like the swamp bayou.

WDW Day 3: a super busy day at Magic Kingdom

Day 3 of our adventure begins heading over to the Magic Kingdom, and holy shit was it packed. Towards the end of the night we ended up getting the heck out of there and heading back to EPCOT, but here is my update/photos of that day since it’s technically the magical place! Also sorry for some of the image quality, had some mess ups with my new camera and a lot of the photos came out real grainy.

After exiting the Monorail, let’s see if it’s going to be a busy day?!

Disney World Trip: Day 1, Flying in and a quick bite.

This week’s blog posts will be all Disney, they will entail my week trip to Disney World and Universal Studios, and a stay at the Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans. I was thinking of doing a day by day, but there are a lot of photos so I will do it kind of like that but multiple day posts so one blog post doesn’t get to filled up! So stay tuned this week and keep checking back for updates. Let’s get to the pre-flight and airport snack while waiting for our parents to get off their flight. Also I will be making a cool video trip report.

This was a week before our trip, I found an epic 45th Aniv edition Magic Band online for our trip, limited to 4,500 and might sounds at each entry point.

This is when we go to the terminal and were waiting for my parents to get off their flight, only one of them knew we were coming, totally surprised the pops.

Think this was Johnny Carinos while we were waiting for their arrival, not many gluten free options at the airport locations.
